OFFSHORE POWER BOAT SKIPPER COURSE — Advanced International License

Ready to take command in deep waters, extend your cruising range and master your yacht handling at the highest level? The ISSA Offshore Power Boat Skipper course is designed for experienced skippers (ages 18 and up) ready to push beyond coastal limits.

This is an intensive, 3-day live-aboard voyage into open waters (according to weather conditions), where trainees take direct command of the vessel under the guidance of a senior instructor. The goal is to experience long-distance offshore passages, manage changing sea conditions and lead a crew at open sea while navigating between selected marinas in Cyprus or anchoring in the island’s most beautiful bays.

The international license awarded upon completion authorizes you to operate motor vessels up to 24 meters in length, sailing up to 120 nautical miles from the coastline, during both day and night.

Where the licence is valid

The licence permits sailing up to 120 nautical miles from the coast, day and night. If you do not yet hold an SRC marine radio licence you will complete it during the voyage, as a mandatory condition for certification. It meets the requirements of the ICC standard (International Certificate of Competence), established under Resolution No. 40 of the UNECE Inland Transport Committee and officially recognised in some 22 countries, most of them in Europe. In practice the licence is also accepted by yacht charter companies, marinas and port authorities across the Mediterranean basin (including Cyprus, Greece, Turkey, Croatia, Italy and Spain), in the Caribbean and in South-East Asia.
